Power windows and exterior mirrors
GENERAL INFORMATION
With the ignition switched on, the windows can be lowered and raised using the power drive.
The switches are located in the driver's door armrest.
In addition, the front passenger door and rear doors have separate switches for the corresponding window regulators.
The window regulators operate for about ten minutes after the ignition is switched off. However, they are deactivated immediately when one of the front doors is opened.
The lock switch (A) can be used to disconnect power from the rear door window regulators.
The rear door window regulators can be operated only when the lock switch is pressed in.
When the rear door window regulators are disabled, the symbol lights up on the lock switch.
Raising / lowering the windows
Briefly pressing the window switch lowers the window fully and automatically; briefly pulling the switch up raises the window to the fully closed position. Pressing the switch again stops the window at any intermediate position.
The automatic window raising function works only with the ignition switched on.
CAUTION
The automatic window up / down function is deactivated after the battery is disconnected and then reconnected. To restore the operation of the window regulators after the battery is connected, proceed as follows:
Press and hold the window switch to bring the window to the fully raised position. Release the switch, then press it again and hold it for approximately one second with the window closed.
The automatic function is reactivated.
Comfort opening / closing
To open / close the windows when locking / unlocking the vehicle from the driver's or front passenger's door, proceed as follows:
Turn and hold the key in the unlock position – the windows open. When the key is returned to its original position, the opening process stops immediately. Turn and hold the key in the lock position – the windows close. When the key is returned to its original position, the closing process stops immediately.
Comfort unlocking / locking also works with the remote control*. Refer to the section Keys, Locks and Anti-Theft Alarm System with Central Locking.
CAUTION
Be careful when raising the windows!Inattention or lack of supervision when using the power windows may result in injury.
Therefore:
– if necessary, deactivate the rear power windows using the lockout switch (refer to the illustration above); – always remove the ignition key when leaving the vehicle; – when closing the vehicle with comfort closing, watch the windows rise; this is especially important when closing the windows using the remote control*.
Pivoting window1)
The rear windows can be pivoted open to the side and set in two fixed positions.
Opening
Grasp the appropriate surface of the hinge and move it in the direction shown by the arrow to the first fixed position (refer to the illustration).
Push the hinge fully outward to fully open the window. In this position the hinge rests against the pillar.
Closing
Move the hinge away from the pillar and pull it inward past the first fixed position. The hinge must rest against the pillar.
Rear View Mirrors
Before driving, adjust the rear view mirrors correctly so that rear visibility is ensured at all times.
Interior Mirror
Manual Mirror Dimming
In the normal position, the lever on the underside of the mirror must face forward.
Use this lever to dim the mirror:
Lever in the forward position – normal position.
Lever in the rear position – dimming position.
Automatic Dimming*
Adjust the position of the mirror by hand.
With the ignition on, the interior mirror dims automatically depending on the light falling on it (for example, headlights from behind).
When the interior light or reverse gear is switched on, the mirror returns to its original position (no dimming).
Exterior Mirrors
Note on Using Convex and Aspherical* Exterior Mirrors
Convex and aspherical mirrors increase the field of view. However, they reduce the size of objects in the image. Therefore, such mirrors are only conditionally suitable for judging the distance to vehicles approaching from behind.
Automatically Dimming Exterior Mirrors*
The exterior mirrors dim automatically together with the interior mirror.
With the ignition on, the mirrors dim automatically depending on the light falling on them (for example, headlights from behind).
When the interior light or reverse gear is switched on, the mirrors return to their original position (no dimming).
CAUTION
Automatic dimming of the exterior mirrors works correctly only when nothing blocks the light falling on the interior mirror (for example, objects placed on the parcel shelf).Mirror Heating*
The reflective surface of the exterior mirrors is heated with the ignition on, depending on the outside temperature.
Adjusting the Exterior Mirrors (2-door vehicles only)
Use the multi-position switch (A) to select the power mirror of the driver's / front passenger's side or to fold the mirrors1).
Power exterior mirrors can only be adjusted with the ignition on, by pressing the large button C.
The reflective surface of the mirror moves when the corresponding side of the arrow button is pressed.
Neutral position L driver's mirror R front passenger's mirror D folding of both exterior mirrors1) 1) Only for certain export versions.
4-door vehicles
Neutral position L driver's mirror R front passenger's mirror A folding of both exterior mirrors
Folding the mirrors is recommended, for example, to protect them when parking or in narrow spaces.
Set the reflective surface of the mirror to the desired position by pressing the corresponding side of the large arrow-marked button C.
CAUTION
If the power drive fails, grasp the edge of the mirror by hand and set it by pressing on the edge of the reflective surface. If the mirror has been moved by external force (for example, an impact during maneuvering), fully fold the mirrors electrically. Never reset the mirrors to their original position by hand, as this may adversely affect their function.
