(please wait) appears in the driver information system (FIS) display.
If an urgent call is necessary, this process can be interrupted by briefly pressing any control button on the handset adapter. This interrupts the SIM card memory reading process. The process is also interrupted when an incoming call is received.
In addition to the already mentioned "BITTE WARTEN . . ." (please wait) indication, the following messages may appear in the FIS display:
– KARTE BITTE – (insert card) no SIM card in the telephone – PIN BITTE – (enter PIN) PIN not entered – KEIN SERVICE – (no service) no connection to the telephone network – ANRUF – (incoming call) an incoming call is received

An adapter for the mobile telephone can be obtained from an Audi dealer.

Mobile telephones, radio transmitters and business equipment
Fixed installation
When using commercially available mobile telephones and radio transmitters, observe the following:
Subsequent installation of electrical / electronic equipment requires approval for use in this vehicle model and, under certain circumstances, may result in loss of the right to operate it.
Installation of consumer and business equipment (except radio transmitters) is permitted provided it does not affect the driver's direct control of the vehicle and bears the "CE" identification mark.
Additionally installed equipment whose operation may affect the driver's control of the vehicle must be approved for use in this vehicle and must bear the identification mark "e".
Installation of radio transmitters in the vehicle requires approval.
Audi permits installation under the following conditions:
– technically correct antenna installation, – external antenna installation (using shielded cable and an antenna matched without reflection), – effective transmitter power at the antenna base not exceeding 10 W. Information on installing and operating radio transmitters with higher power can be obtained from an Audi dealer.
Mobile radio transmitters
Operating mobile telephones or radio transmitters under the following conditions may cause malfunctions of the vehicle electronics:
– no external antenna – incorrectly installed external antenna – radiated power greater than 10 watts.
Therefore, portable radio telephones or radios must not be used inside the vehicle without an external antenna or with an incorrectly installed external antenna.
CAUTION
Using mobile phones and two-way radios inside the vehicle without an external antenna, or with an improperly installed external antenna, is harmful to health due to high-frequency electromagnetic fields! In addition, only an external antenna ensures optimal operating range of the devices. Always observe the requirements of the operating instructions for mobile phones and radio transceivers.Test yourself
