Hood

Opening the hood
To unlock the hood, pull the release handle located on the left side below the instrument panel. The hood will be pushed out of the latch by spring force. At the same time, the release catch will extend outward through the radiator grille - see illustration.
CAUTION
Before opening the hood, make sure the wiper blades are resting on the windshield. Otherwise they may damage the paint.
To open the hood, pull the release catch in the direction of the arrow and lift the hood until the spring pushes it up.
Closing the hood
To close, lower the hood down until it overcomes the spring force, then slam it shut so that it latches.
CAUTION
The engine hood must be securely closed while driving. Therefore, always check that the hood has latched after closing it. When properly closed, the hood sits flush with the adjacent body components. If you notice while driving that the hood latch is not engaged, stop and close the hood.
Engine compartment
CAUTION
Use extreme caution when working in the engine compartment! Switch off the engine, remove the ignition key from the lock. Firmly apply the parking brake. Place the gear selector in neutral / position "P". Allow the engine to cool. While the engine is still at operating temperature:- Do not place hands near the cooling fan; it may start suddenly. - Do not open the radiator cap; the cooling system is under pressure. Beware of short circuits in the electrical system, especially at the battery. If checks must be performed with the engine running, note the additional hazard from rotating parts (for example, drive belt, alternator, cooling fan, etc.) and from the high-voltage ignition circuits. Observe generally accepted safety rules and the warnings contained in this manual.
To avoid serious malfunctions, make sure not to mix up operating fluids when topping up or between different systems.
