Luggage Compartment
Vehicle Loading
To maintain good vehicle handling, make sure the load is distributed evenly.
Place heavy items as far forward as possible, i.e., against the rear seatbacks or against the front seats (refer to illustration) when the rear seatbacks are folded. The load must not extend above the upper edge of the seatbacks.
Tire pressure must match the vehicle load – refer to the tire pressure label on the fuel filler flap cover.
Never exceed the gross vehicle weight rating or axle load limits. Their permissible values are listed in the vehicle documents.
CAUTION
Note that when transporting heavy items, the vehicle's handling characteristics change due to the shift in the center of gravity.Select the driving mode and speed accordingly. Place the load in the luggage compartment as far as possible, with the seatbacks raised and locked. Secure the load to the tie-down loops using a safety net* or non-elastic tie-down straps. This provides the highest level of safety. To prevent exhaust gases from entering the cabin, never drive with the luggage compartment door not fully closed, and never drive with it open!
Tie-Down Loops
Four tie-down loops (arrows) are located in the luggage compartment.
These loops can be used to secure cargo.
Safety Net*
The safety net is stored in the luggage compartment pocket. The net can be used to securely fasten cargo. Insert the net hooks into the tie-down loops.
After use, fold the net and store it in the pocket.

To install and secure the front hooks, insert the hooks parallel to the loop, then turn them – refer to illustration.

Spread the safety net out in the luggage compartment. The word “TOP” must point up, and the arrow must point in the direction of travel. The free end of the tie-down strap must point toward the luggage compartment door.
Raise both adjusters and loosen the tie-down straps – refer to illustration.
Position the load so that it is fully under the net, as far as possible.
Pull the tie-down straps rearward and tighten them until taut.
Cargo Retaining Net
This net may only be used to secure light loads.

The net prevents cargo from shifting in the luggage compartment. To secure cargo, insert the hooks into the tie-down loops.
Parcel Shelf
The parcel shelf may be used for clothing items.
CAUTION
Do not place heavy or hard objects on the parcel shelf. In sudden braking they pose a danger to passengers. In addition, objects rubbing against the rear window may damage its electric defroster system.
When the luggage compartment door is opened, the parcel shelf rises simultaneously.
If it is necessary to transport bulky cargo, the parcel shelf can be removed.
Removing the Parcel Shelf

At the connection points between the parcel shelf and the luggage compartment door, release the retaining hooks (1).
Pull the parcel shelf (3) rearward and remove it from the holders (2) – arrows.
To install the parcel shelf, insert it forward into the side holders and secure the retaining hooks on the luggage compartment door.
