Refueling and emergency unlocking of the fuel filler flap

The central locking system automatically unlocks and locks the fuel filler flap. Information on the fuel to be used is given on the label on the inside of the fuel filler flap - see illustration.

For proper refueling, it is important to use the fuel dispensing nozzle correctly.

When the nozzle shuts off automatically and is used correctly, the fuel tank is "full". Stop refueling at this point, otherwise the expansion space will be filled, which may cause fuel to overflow when heated.

After refueling, tighten the fuel tank cap until it clicks audibly.

CAUTION

Immediately remove any fuel that gets on the paint during refueling. Otherwise it may damage the paint. This applies especially to RME (biodiesel) fuel. If you carry a spare fuel canister, observe the applicable regulations.

Emergency unlocking of the fuel filler flap

If the central locking system malfunctions, the fuel filler flap can be unlocked manually. To do so:

Open the luggage compartment lid.

Remove the right luggage compartment side trim.

To unlock the fuel filler flap, pull the tensioning device (arrow).

Open the fuel filler flap.
