Switches and Controls

1 instrument panel lighting

With the ignition on, turn the knurled knob (1) to steplessly adjust the brightness of the instrument panel and center console display backlighting.
The selected display backlight brightness is adjusted automatically depending on the ambient light.
In addition, with the lights on, the brightness of the instruments, display and center console lighting can be steplessly adjusted by turning the knurled knob (1).
2 headlight aiming control

Turn the knurled knob of the electric headlight aiming control to steplessly change the position of the headlight optical axes according to the actual vehicle load.
This keeps the glare to oncoming drivers within unavoidable limits. At the same time, correct headlight aiming provides the most favorable road visibility for the driver. The headlight aiming angle can only be adjusted with the low beams on.
The marked control positions approximately correspond to the following vehicle load conditions:
0 driver and front passenger in vehicle, luggage compartment empty I all seats occupied, luggage compartment empty II all seats occupied, luggage compartment loaded III driver's seat occupied, luggage compartment loaded

When using the warning and lighting devices described above, observe the applicable regulations.
On right-hand drive vehicles, the position of the switches differs from left-hand drive vehicles. However, the symbols on the switches correspond to those on left-hand drive vehicles.
CAUTION
When the ignition is switched on, on vehicles with xenon headlights, the headlight aiming angle is automatically adjusted according to the vehicle load.Front fog lamps and rear fog lamps*

Illuminate when the parking lights or low beams are switched on.
When they are switched on, the indicator lamp built into the switch lights up. When the rear fog lamps are on, the front fog lamps cannot be switched off separately.
Rear fog lamp

The rear fog lamp illuminates only with the low or high beams on, and on vehicles with front fog lamps also with the parking lights on.
When the rear fog lamps are switched on, the front fog lamps switch on automatically. The indicator lamps in both switches light up.
CAUTION
On vehicles with a factory-installed towing device*, the electrical system automatically switches off the vehicle's rear fog lamps when a trailer is in use.General information When using the warning and lighting devices described above, observe the applicable regulations.
1 anti-slip regulation (ASR)* or electronic stability program (ESP)*

ASR / ESP switches on automatically when the engine is started. If necessary, it can be switched on and off by pressing the button. When the system is switched off, the indicator lamp lights up.
2 hazard warning lights
When the hazard warning lights are switched on, the indicator lamp in their switch flashes simultaneously.
In addition, the turn signal arrows on the instrument panel flash.
The hazard warning lights also operate with the ignition switched off.
In the event of an accident with airbag deployment, the hazard warning lights switch on automatically.

1 driver's seat heater*
With the ignition on, the electric heating of the seat cushion and backrest can be used.
The heater is switched on and steplessly adjusted with the knurled knob.
To switch on the heater, pull the corresponding knurled knob out of position 0 and turn it to one of the six available temperature settings. The heater control's digital scale backlighting switches on at the same time.
2 rear window heater
The electric heater operates only with the ignition on. While it is on, the indicator lamp in its switch is lit. The rear window heater switches off automatically after approximately 10 minutes.
As soon as visibility through the rear window is restored, switch off the heater. By reducing power consumption, you will also reduce fuel consumption.
CAUTION
On vehicles with a rear window antenna, the antenna consists of the three upper elements of the conductor, which therefore do not heat up.3 front passenger seat heater*
CAUTION
If possible, do not kneel on the seats and do not subject the seat surface to strong impact in any other way, to avoid damaging the heating elements.Turn signal, high/low beam lever switch

Turn signal switch
Turn signals operate only with the ignition on. To switch on the right turn signals, move the lever up. To switch on the left turn signals, move the lever down. When the turn signals are on, the indicator lamp flashes simultaneously. After the turn is completed, the turn signals switch off automatically.
