Removal and Installation of Tailgate Lock / Lock Cylinder

REMOVAL

1. Open the tailgate and remove the lower trim panel. To do this, remove the rivets (1). Remove the cover (2) from the handle recess and unscrew the screw located under it. Remove the trim panel. The arrows in the illustration show the position of the clips. Replace any damaged clips.

2. Cut the cable tie and disconnect the plug connector.

3. Remove the rod (1).
4. Unscrew the nuts (2) and remove the lock cylinder (3).
5. Disconnect the upper part of the tailgate lock.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the upper part of the tailgate lock in place and secure it with screws. If the lock cylinder is being replaced, transfer the microswitch from the old cylinder to the new one. To do this, remove the spring clip, remove the holder, and remove the microswitch.
2. Connect the operating rod to the lock.
3. Connect the electrical wires and secure the cable with a new cable tie.
4. Install the new trim panel on the tailgate and secure it. Insert the rivets and spread them. Secure the cover.
