Trunk Lid Position Adjustment

PROCEDURE

1. If stops with ejectors are installed, press the ejector into the stop and, in this position, turn it slightly to the left with a Phillips screwdriver. This locks the ejectors in the stops.

2. Unscrew the stops.

* Secure the trunk lid to prevent it from falling unexpectedly.

3. Remove the gas-filled strut.

* The struts are under load.

4. Loosen bolts (1) and (2) on the left and right.

5. Loosen the lower part of the trunk lid lock (1) so that it can be shifted sideways and vertically. To do this, shift the cover in the trunk trim.

6. Carefully close the tailgate and shift it sideways so that the gap to the quarter panels is even (tolerance ±1 mm).
7. Carefully open the tailgate.
8. Tighten the fastener and check its position; repeat the adjustment if necessary.
9. Open the tailgate.
10. Check the condition of the movable elements (2) at the bottom of the lock. Replace them if necessary.
11. Close the tailgate.
12. Check the height of the tailgate relative to the quarter panels. The tailgate must be flush with the quarter panels (tolerance ±1 mm).
13. Otherwise, measure the protrusion and lower the tailgate by the corresponding amount.
14. Check the adjustment. Repeat if necessary.
15. Open the tailgate.
16. Screw in the stop so that the closed tailgate rests on the stops on both the left and right sides.

* The tailgate must not be higher than the quarter panels, otherwise stress will occur during height adjustment.

17. On the stops with ejectors, turn the ejector slightly to the right with a Phillips screwdriver. This releases the stops so they can be removed.
