Brake Overheating
On long steep downhill grades, heavy braking may cause temporary overheating of the brake components.
When going downhill, shift to a lower gear. Do not apply the brakes continuously for long periods.
Refer to "ENGINE BRAKING" in this section or the alphabetical index.
After driving through deep puddles, washing the vehicle, or heavy braking on steep downhill grades, braking performance may temporarily decrease.
This is caused by moisture on the brake components or by overheating.
If braking performance temporarily decreases due to overheating, do the following:
• When going downhill, shift to a lower gear. Do not apply the brakes continuously for long periods. Refer to "ENGINE BRAKING" .
If braking performance temporarily decreases due to moisture on the brake components, do the following to restore normal braking:

2. Continue driving at a safe speed and keep a sufficient distance from vehicles behind and alongside.
3. Gently depress the brake pedal until normal braking is restored.
