Citroen C5 Aircross (2017- 2024) - Owner's Manual

Hill start assist

~1min read

This system holds the vehicle stationary for a short time (approximately 2 seconds) when starting on a slope, while the driver moves the foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal.

The system is active only when:

- The vehicle has been brought to a complete stop with the foot on the brake pedal.

- Certain slope conditions are met.

- The driver's door is closed.

Do not get out of the vehicle during the temporary hold phase of the hill start assist.

If someone must get out of the vehicle with the engine running, apply the parking brake manually. Then check that the parking brake warning light and the P indicator on the control are lit steadily.

The hill start assist cannot be deactivated. However, using the parking brake to immobilise the vehicle interrupts its operation.

Operation

Conduite

On an uphill slope, with the vehicle stationary, the vehicle is held for a short time as soon as the driver releases the brake pedal:

- If first gear or neutral is engaged on the manual gearbox.

- If D or M mode is selected on the automatic gearbox.

Conduite

On a downhill slope, with the vehicle stationary and reverse gear engaged, the vehicle is held for a short time as soon as the driver releases the brake pedal.

Malfunction

In the event of a malfunction, these warning lights come on in the instrument panel, together with a message.

Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
