Underinflation detection
This system alerts the driver when one or more tyres show a loss of pressure.
The alert is displayed when the vehicle is being driven, not when it is stationary.
It compares the information provided by the wheel speed sensors with reference values, which must be reset after each tyre pressure adjustment or wheel change.
It takes into account the last values stored when the reset is requested. It is therefore essential that the tyre pressure is correct when this operation is carried out. This operation is the driver's responsibility.
Underinflation detection can in no way replace the driver's vigilance.
This system does not replace checking the tyre inflation pressure (including that of the spare wheel), especially before a long journey.
Driving with underinflated tyres, particularly in severe conditions (heavy load, high speed, long journey):
- Degrades handling.
- Increases braking distances.
- Causes premature tyre wear.
- Increases energy consumption.
The prescribed tyre inflation pressures for the vehicle are shown on the tyre pressure label.
For more information on Identification elements, refer to the corresponding section.
Checking tyre pressure
This check must be carried out monthly "cold" (vehicle stationary for 1 hour or after a journey of less than 10 km at moderate speed).
Otherwise, add 0.3 bar to the values shown on the label.
Underinflation warning
It is indicated by this warning light coming on steadily, accompanied by an audible signal and a message display.
► Reduce speed immediately, avoid sudden steering movements and any harsh braking.
► Stop as soon as traffic conditions allow.
The pressure loss detected does not always result in visible deformation of the tyre.
Do not rely on visual inspection alone.
► Using a compressor, for example the one in the temporary tyre repair kit, check the pressure of all 4 tyres when cold.
► If this check cannot be carried out immediately, drive carefully at reduced speed.
► In the event of a puncture, use the temporary tyre repair kit or the spare wheel (depending on equipment).
Driving at too low a speed does not guarantee optimum monitoring.
The alert is not displayed immediately in the event of a sudden loss of pressure or tyre burst. This is because analysis of the wheel speed sensor values may take several minutes.
The alert may be slightly delayed at speeds below 40 km/h, or when driving sportily.
The alert remains displayed until the system is reset.
Resetting
Reset the system after each adjustment of the tyre pressure of one or more tyres, and after changing one or more wheels.
Before resetting the system, make sure the pressure of all 4 tyres is suitable for the vehicle's conditions of use and matches the values shown on the tyre pressure label.
Check the pressure of all 4 tyres before performing the reset.
The system does not warn if the pressure is incorrect when the reset is performed.
With the vehicle stopped, reset the system from the "Driving / Vehicle" menu on the touch screen.
► In this menu, select the "Driving functions" tab.
► On the page, select the "Under-inflation reset" function.
► Select "Yes" to confirm.
An audible signal and a message on the display confirm the reset.
Snow chains
The system must not be reset after fitting or removing snow chains.
Malfunction
In the event of a malfunction, these warning lights come on in the instrument panel.
A message appears, accompanied by an audible signal.
In this case, under-inflation monitoring of the tyres is no longer ensured.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Non-matching or "puncture-repair" type spare wheel
Using this type of wheel may suspend monitoring.
In this case, the malfunction warning light comes on and goes out once the wheel has been replaced with one of the same size as the others, the tyre pressures have been adjusted and the system has been reset.
