Driver Inattention Detection
For more information, refer to the General Recommendations for driving and manoeuvring aids.
This function includes the "Coffee Break Alert" system, supplemented by the "Driver Attention Alert" system.
These systems are in no way intended to keep the driver awake or to prevent them from falling asleep at the wheel.
It is the driver's responsibility to stop when they feel tired.
Take a break if you feel tired, and at least every 2 hours.
Activation / Deactivation
Settings are made via the Driving / Vehicle menu on the touchscreen.
The status of the function is stored when the ignition is switched off.
Coffee Break Alert
The system triggers an alert when it detects that the driver has not taken a break after 2 hours of driving at a speed above 70 km/h.
This alert is shown as a message prompting the driver to take a break, accompanied by an audible signal.
If the driver does not follow this recommendation, the alert is repeated every hour until the vehicle is stopped.
The system resets if one of the following conditions is met:
- Engine running, the vehicle has been stationary for more than 15 minutes.
- The ignition has been switched off for a few minutes.
- The driver's seat belt is unfastened and the driver's door is open.
As soon as the vehicle speed drops below 70 km/h, the system goes into standby.
Driving time is counted when the speed is above 70 km/h.
Driver Attention Alert

The system assesses the driver's state of alertness, fatigue or inattention by detecting deviations from the lane markings.
To do this, the system uses a camera mounted on the upper part of the windshield.
This function is particularly suited to expressways (speed above 70 km/h).
At a first alert level, the driver is warned by the message "Be attentive!", accompanied by an audible signal.
After 3 first-level alerts, the system triggers a new alert with the message "Risky driving: take a break", accompanied by a more pronounced audible signal.
Under certain driving conditions (deteriorated road surface or strong wind), the system may issue warnings regardless of the driver's state of alertness.
The system may be disturbed or may not operate in the following situations:
- Road markings absent, worn, obscured (snow, mud) or multiple (roadworks).
- Short distance to the vehicle ahead (road markings not detected).
- Narrow, winding roads...
