GENERAL INFORMATION

Installing the Protective Tubes on the Connecting Rod Bolts

1. Use short lengths of 3/8 inch hose as guides when removing the piston and connecting rod assemblies.

Remove or disconnect:

PROCEDURE.

1. Mark the pistons with the number of the cylinder they were removed from.

2. Mark the connecting rods and lower end caps so they are not mixed up during assembly.

3. Rotate the crankshaft to the bottom dead center position.

4. Remove carbon deposits from the upper part of the cylinders.

Warning.

If there is a noticeable ridge at the top of the piston travel on the cylinder wall, remove it before removing the piston and connecting rod assembly from the cylinder. Use a ridge reamer for this. Do not apply excessive force to avoid breaking the rings or damaging the piston.

5. Connecting rod lower end cap.

6. Piston and connecting rod assembly. Push the piston out with a suitable tool.

Warning.

Install protective tubes on the connecting rod bolts to prevent damage.
