Audio System (Vehicles without GPS) - Cassette Player Care

~1min read

During operation of the audio unit, the playback head of the cassette player gradually becomes contaminated with dust and particles of the magnetic layer shed from the tape. Heavy contamination of the playback head degrades sound quality. To prevent this, clean the playback head periodically, every 30 hours of cassette player operation.

If you do not properly maintain the cassette player and clean the playback head at the specified interval, a standard cleaning cassette will not be able to remove the accumulated contamination.

The cassette player is designed for use with cassettes with a recording length of up to 100 minutes.

Using cassettes with a longer recording time may cause them to break or jam.

If the magnetic tape has significant slack, tighten it by turning the hub of the cassette reel with a pencil or your fingers. If the paper label on the cassette has come loose, glue it down or remove it completely, as a loose label may cause the cassette to jam. Do not insert a bent or damaged cassette into the deck.

To prevent dust and moisture from getting into the cassettes, store them in the cases provided for this purpose. Do not leave audio cassettes where they may be exposed to direct sunlight, high temperature or high humidity.

If a cassette has been heated or cooled excessively, do not insert it into the cassette deck until its temperature has returned to normal.

Make sure that foreign objects or debris do not get into the cassette player.
