Система радиоданных (RDS)
Radio Data System (RDS)

The audio system provides a number of advantages offered by the Radio Data System (RDS).

When traveling through different regions, you can keep listening to a specific FM station even when its broadcast frequency changes.

RDS functions are automatically activated when the radio is turned on.

If the received station transmits RDS data, the tuned frequency is shown on the side display, and the station name is shown in the audio system window on the navigation system display.

If a station broadcasts on several frequencies, the audio system automatically tunes to the frequency with the strongest signal. Therefore, while driving, there is no need to manually retune the radio to another frequency within the same RDS network.

The RDS system can be turned on or off.

To activate the RDS system and select a specific function, press the AUDIO button to display the audio system window on the screen. Then press the lower part of the selector and turn the interface selector switch to select the window titled RDS.

To access RDS settings, press the ENT (Enter) selector button. Six RDS functions can be adjusted. Turn the interface selector switch to select the desired function, then confirm your selection by pressing the ENT button.

The RDS functions are described below. To move from one function to another, press the selector or turn the interface selector switch knob.

AF function - search for alternative station frequencies

NEWS function - tuning to stations broadcasting news

TA function — receiving traffic announcements

REG function — regional station tuning

PS function — displaying the station name

TP function - automatic tuning to stations broadcasting traffic messages

To activate the RDS functions, select AF ON by turning the interface selector switch.

To deactivate the RDS functions, select AF OFF.

To save the settings, press the ENT (Enter) selector button.

AF (Alternative Frequencies) function — This function automatically retunes the radio to alternative frequencies of the selected radio program within the RDS network.

NEWS function (news) - This function automatically retunes the radio to the frequencies of radio programs broadcasting short news bulletins.

TA (Traffic Announcement) function — This function puts the audio system into standby mode for traffic announcements. You can also activate or deactivate this function by pressing the TA/PTY button on the audio system control panel.

REG (Regional) function — Keeps the radio tuned to local stations without changing the tuned frequency, even when the signal is weak.

PS function (station name) - Displays the name of the station being listened to.

ATP function — Automatically tunes to stations broadcasting traffic announcements.

5 seconds after tuning is complete, the system automatically returns to normal audio display operation. You can also cancel the tuning mode by pressing the lower part of the selector.

If the RDS station signal becomes so weak that the radio can no longer receive it, the system retains the last tuned frequency, which is shown on the display instead of the station name.

In some countries, the RDS function does not operate.

Station name display When tuned to an RDS station, the reception frequency disappears from the display and is replaced by either the station name or the program type (PTY). To change the information shown on the display from the station name to the program type or vice versa, press and hold the TA/PTY button for at least two seconds. For more information on the PTY system, refer to page 247.

Traffic announcement (TA) standby mode

If you press and release the TA/PTY button, the system enters traffic announcement standby mode and the TA indicator appears on the display.

If the automatic tuning to traffic announcement stations (TP ON) is selected, the TP indicator appears on the display. It indicates that traffic messages can be received from stations transmitting this type of information.

Thanks to cross-referencing, traffic announcements can be received while stations broadcasting other program types are playing, within the same RDS network.

You can also listen to traffic information while playing a CD or cassette (if equipped).

If, before playing a CD or cassette, the radio was tuned to a station broadcasting traffic information and traffic announcement standby mode was activated (TA indicator illuminated), the audio system will automatically pause CD (cassette) playback as soon as a traffic announcement begins. The TA INFO indicator will appear on the display. After the traffic announcement ends, the system returns to CD or cassette playback.

You can adjust the volume during a traffic announcement by turning the volume control knob (VOL).

The volume level is stored, and the next traffic announcement will play at the same volume. You cannot set the volume below a minimum level set by the system. The volume of PTY NEWS and PTY ALARM announcements can also be adjusted (refer to page 251).

If the vehicle battery is discharged or disconnected, the traffic announcement volume defaults to level 9.

To turn off the traffic announcement function, press the TA/PTY button again.

The TA indicator will disappear from the display.

You can also turn the TA function on and off using the navigation system interface (refer to page 244).

When TA mode is active, the audio system will only search for radio stations broadcasting traffic announcements (TP) during automatic seek.

Radio Program Type (PTY) Display

The display shows the type of program being broadcast by the selected RDS station. For example, if the station is broadcasting a radio drama, the DRAMA indicator appears on the display. If a science program is being broadcast, the SCIENCE indicator appears. The main program types are listed below and on page 249.

To activate the PTY function, press the AUDIO button to display the audio system screen on the navigation system display, then press the lower part of the interface selector.

Then turn the interface selector to select the PTY function and confirm your selection by pressing the ENT (Enter) button.

The PTY setting screen appears. On the screen you can select one of the following options: Group or List. Select the desired option by turning the interface selector, or by pressing the right or left side of the selector.

You can also go to program type selection by pressing and holding the TA/PTY button on the audio system control panel for more than 2 seconds.

After selecting the Group or List option, confirm your selection by pressing the ENT (Enter) button. A list of program types by category appears on the screen. Press the upper part of the selector to go to the next screen, or the lower part to go to the previous screen. Select the broadcast type by turning the interface selector knob. Confirm your selection by pressing the ENT (Enter) button.

After selecting the desired program type, the system starts searching for stations with the same PTY code. When the function is used for the first time, the system sets the NEWS type as the factory default.

After selecting the program type, press either side of the SEEK/SKIP button within 5 seconds. The system will start searching for a PTY station of this type. If no suitable station is found, the system displays NO PTY for 5 seconds and exits search mode.

If the selected RDS station does not transmit program type information, the NO PTY message appears on the display. If the radio is tuned to a non-RDS station, the NO RDS message appears on the display for 5 seconds.

The program type selection mode is canceled 5 seconds after you stop turning the interface selector knob to select a program type.

Some radio stations may broadcast information that does not match the program type name.

In PTY search mode, the tuning step in the FM band is 50 kHz. When switching to AF or TA function tuning, the tuning step increases to 100 kHz.

CD Playback Interruption for PTY/News Reception

To activate this function, press the AUDIO button to display the audio system screen on the navigation system display, then press the lower part of the interface selector.

Then turn the interface selector to select the PTY function and confirm your selection by pressing the ENT (Enter) button.

You can also activate this function by pressing and holding the TA/PTY button for more than two seconds.

Then turn the interface selector to select the NEWS program type and confirm your selection by pressing the ENT (Enter) button. Press the selector or turn the interface selector knob to select the ON position, and confirm your selection by pressing the ENT (Enter) button.

The NEWS indicator appears on both displays.

While a CD is playing, the system remembers the last tuned FM PTY station. If this function is active, when news is broadcast on the FM band, the system pauses CD playback and switches to the news broadcast.

You can adjust the news broadcast volume independently. For information on adjusting the volume level, refer to page 247.

If the transmitted information type changes, or if the station cannot be received for 10 seconds due to a weak signal, the system automatically returns to CD playback mode.

The audio system provides several types of interruptions, including traffic announcements (TA). The function that was activated first has the highest priority. To activate an interruption caused by any other function, the currently active function must be turned off first.

PTY Emergency Alarm Message

The ALARM code is used for emergency broadcasts, such as natural disasters. When this code is received, the ALARM message appears on the display and the volume level changes. After the message is cancelled, the audio system returns to normal operation.
