Description and Operation
Description
The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS) is a Hall sensor that detects the camshaft position using a Hall element.
It works together with the CKPS and identifies the piston position of each cylinder, which cannot be detected by the CKPS alone.
The CMPS is installed on the cylinder head cover and uses a target wheel installed on the camshaft. The camshaft position sensor is a Hall sensor. As the target wheel passes the Hall sensor, the magnetic field in the sensor changes. The sensor then sends a signal that creates a square wave, which is used to accurately identify each cylinder for independent sequential injection control.
