Description and Operation
Description
The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKPS) detects the crankshaft position and is one of the most important sensors in the engine control system. Loss of the CKPS signal may cause the engine to stall. Installed on the cylinder block or transaxle case, it generates an alternating current by the magnetic flux field created between the sensor and the target wheel while the engine is running.
The target wheel has 58 slots and 2 missing slots at every 360 degrees CA (Crank Angle).
