Description and Operation

Description

The Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor (EGTS) No. 1 for the WGT, installed in the exhaust manifold, measures the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the WGT.

The exhaust gas temperature sensor is installed in the gasoline particulate filter (GPF) assembly. The No. 2 exhaust gas temperature sensor (EGTS) for the GPF measures the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the GPF.

When the specified engine condition is met, the ECM burns off the soot collected in the GPF using the exhaust gas. At this time, the exhaust gas temperature is an important factor for engine condition.

Repair Procedures

Inspection

  1. Turn the ignition off.

  2. Disconnect the connector of the exhaust gas temperature sensors No. 1/No. 2/No. 3.

  3. Measure the resistance between the sensor signal terminal and the ground terminal.

  4. Make sure the resistance is within specification.
