Removal

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the transmission (see subsection 9.1) and the clutch (see subsection 8.5).

2. Lock the flywheel to prevent it from rotating.

3. Unscrew the bolts and carefully remove the flywheel.

4. If necessary, remove the reinforcing plate and dowel pins.

Inspection

PROCEDURE

1. If the clutch disc contact surface of the flywheel is damaged, replace the flywheel.

2. If the ring gear is worn or teeth are missing, replace the ring gear. It is recommended that the flywheel ring gear be replaced at a Nissan service center.

Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Install the guide pins and the reinforcing plate.

2. Clean the mating surfaces of the flywheel and crankshaft.

3. Place the flywheel onto the crankshaft and start the mounting bolts.

4. Lock the flywheel to prevent it from rotating, and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

5. Install the clutch and transmission.
