Drive Shaft Boot Inspection (service every 30000 km or 12 months)
PROCEDURE
1. Raise the vehicle and place it on support stands.
2. Turn the steering wheel to the stop and slowly rotate the wheel.
3. Check the condition of the outer CV joint rubber boot by spreading the boot folds apart. Check for cracks, tears and signs of rubber aging, which may cause grease to wash out and dirt and water to enter the joint. Also check the tightness and condition of the spring retaining clamps.

4. Repeat the same procedure for the inner CV joint. If any damage or signs of wear are found, replace the boots (see subsection 10.4).
5. Also check the condition of the CV joints themselves by holding the drive shaft and attempting to rotate the wheel.
6. Then attempt to rotate the drive shaft while holding the inner joint. Any noticeable play indicates wear of the joint splines, wear of the shaft splines, or a loose driveshaft nut.
