Inspection of Engine Mount (V6 Engines)
INSPECTION
PROCEDURE
1. The engine mounting on V6 models uses four mounts, the front and rear of which are fitted with hydraulic inserts that significantly reduce vibration at engine idle (refer to System for Adjusting Engine Mount - General Information and Functional Check).
2. To inspect, slightly raise the engine to unload the mounts.
3. Raise the vehicle and support it on safety stands. Place a jack under the engine oil pan (to distribute the load, place a wooden block between the jack head and the oil pan). Raise the jack slightly to lift the unit and unload the mounts.
Never perform any work under a vehicle supported only by a jack!
4. Check the mount cushions for cracks, signs of rubber hardening, and separation from the metal base.
5. Check for play between the mount brackets and the engine/vehicle frame (use a pry bar or a large screwdriver as a lever). If play is found, lower the engine and tighten the mount fasteners.
6. To prevent rubber deterioration, treat the cushions with a special protective compound.
