Front Crankshaft Oil Seal Replacement
PROCEDURE
1. Remove the timing belt and crankshaft sprocket (refer to Timing Belt and Timing Gears Removal, Inspection and Installation).

2. Carefully pry out the old seal from its seat using a special tool or a large screwdriver. Take care not to leave scratches or gouges on the shaft journal surface or the seal bore walls, as such defects will cause the new seal to fail quickly.
3. Clean the inner surfaces of the seal bore. Lightly lubricate the outer edge of the new seal with clean engine oil, and pack the seal lip with multi-purpose grease.

4. Using a socket of the appropriate size or a length of pipe of suitable diameter as a installation tool, press the new seal into its bore (the tool must bear only on the hard outer edge of the seal end face) to the same depth as the old seal. After installing the seal, make sure the garter spring has not come out of its groove.
5. Install the crankshaft sprocket and timing belt in place (refer to Timing Belt and Timing Gears Removal, Inspection and Installation).
6. Start the engine and check for signs of oil leaks around the front seal installation area.
