Exhaust Manifolds Installation
Perform this procedure only after the engine has completely cooled down.
INSTALLATION
PROCEDURE
1. Using a scraper, remove sealant residue and old gasket material from the mating surfaces of the exhaust manifolds and cylinder heads. Wipe the surfaces with a rag moistened with acetone. If leaks are suspected, check the manifolds for flatness and, if necessary, have distorted components resurfaced.
2. Install new gaskets over the studs fixed in the cylinder heads.
3. Install the manifolds, apply engine oil to the studs and install new self-locking nuts. Working from the center of the manifold outward, tighten the nuts to the specified torque in three stages, following a diagonal sequence.
The manifolds are marked with the letters "F" (front) and "R" (rear) to prevent them from being mixed up.
4. Install the remaining components in the reverse order of removal.
5. Start the engine and check for exhaust gas leaks at the joints between the exhaust manifolds and cylinder heads and the exhaust pipes.
