Front Strut Assembly with Coil Spring Installation
PROCEDURE
1. Position the strut assembly with coil spring through the wheel arch into its original location. Carefully insert the mounting studs through the holes in the upper mount in the fender apron. Immediately install the nuts on the studs and tighten them by hand only.
Due to the considerable weight of the strut assembly, it is advisable to have an assistant.
2. Insert the lower end of the strut into the damper fork. Make sure the guide tab on the back of the strut housing engages the matching slot in the fork.
3. Connect the damper fork to the lower suspension arm. Tighten the fastening nut to the specified torque, then tighten the fork pinch bolt nut to the specified torque.
4. Connect the stabilizer bar link to the lower arm (refer to Front Stabilizer Bar Removal and Installation). Secure the flexible brake hose in its bracket on the strut assembly. Tighten the bracket bolt securely.
5. Install the wheel, then lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel nuts to the specified torque (refer to Specifications in the Maintenance and Adjustment Chapter).
6. Tighten the strut assembly upper mount nuts to the specified torque.
