Rear Wheel Hub and Bearing Assembly Removal and Installation

~1min read

The rear hub is integrated with the wheel bearing into a single assembly. The bearing is sealed at the factory and requires no additional lubrication. If the bearing is worn or damaged, replace it together with the hub.

PROCEDURE

1. Loosen the wheel nuts of the corresponding rear wheel. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on stands. Remove the wheel.
2. Remove the brake drum or caliper with disc (see Brakes section).
3. Using a hammer and chisel, remove the dust cap, then stake the hub nut to release it.
