Bulb Replacement

Bulbs remain hot for approximately 20 minutes after the lights are turned off. Before starting work, make sure the components have completely cooled.
Front Turn Signal/Parking Lamps
PROCEDURE

1. Remove the plastic push-pin retainers and pull the fender liner rearward to access the rear of the front turn signal/parking lamp assembly.

To provide adequate working space, turn the front wheels to the appropriate side.

2. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it from the lamp assembly housing.

3. Pull the bulb out of the holder.
4. Installation is performed in the reverse order.

Front Parking Lamps
PROCEDURE

1. Open the hood and turn the front parking lamp bulb holder 1/4 turn counterclockwise to remove it from the lamp assembly.

2. Pull the bulb out of the holder.
3. Installation is performed in the reverse order.

Rear Turn Signal and Stop/Tail Lamps (body section of rear combination lamp)
PROCEDURE


On the vehicles covered, the rear combination lamps consist of two sections, one installed on the body and the other on the luggage compartment lid. The body section includes the turn signal and stop/tail lamps. The section installed on the luggage compartment lid consists of the back-up lamps and, again, the tail lamps.

1. Open the luggage compartment lid, release the fasteners and fold back the luggage compartment trim panel to access the bulbs of the rear combination lamp body section.

2. Turn the appropriate bulb holder 1/8 turn counterclockwise and remove it from the lamp assembly housing. Pull the bulb out of the holder. Installation is performed in the reverse order.

Back-Up Lamps and Tail Lamps (luggage compartment lid section of rear combination lamp)
PROCEDURE

1. Open the luggage compartment lid. Turn the appropriate bulb holder 1/8 turn counterclockwise and remove it from the lamp assembly.

2. Pull the bulb out of the holder.
3. Installation is performed in the reverse order.

High-Mounted Stop Lamp
PROCEDURE

1. Open the luggage compartment lid. The high-mounted stop lamp bulb holder is inserted from below into the rear shelf panel.

2. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it from the shelf panel. Pull the bulb out of the holder.

3. Installation is performed in the reverse order.

License Plate Lamp
PROCEDURE

1. Release the license plate lamp assembly from the body panel.

2. Release the retainers and separate the lamp lens from the bulb holder assembly.

3. Pull the bulb out of the holder.
4. Installation is performed in the reverse order.

Instrument Panel Illumination
PROCEDURE

1. Remove the instrument cluster (refer to Instrument Cluster Removal and Installation).

2. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it from the instrument cluster assembly.

3. Pull the bulb out of the holder.
4. Installation is performed in the reverse order.

Make sure replacement bulbs match the specifications of the failed bulbs. Gauge illumination bulbs have a higher rated power than indicator lamp bulbs.
Interior Lamps (passenger compartment, luggage compartment)
PROCEDURE

1. Bulb replacement for all interior lamps is performed in the same manner. First remove the lamp lens by carefully prying it with the tip of a small screwdriver wrapped in tape (see illustration).

2. Release the bulb from the spring terminals of the holder (see illustration). If it is necessary to pry the bulb, insert the lever only under the edges of the bulb base to avoid damaging the glass envelope.

3. Installation is performed in the reverse order.
