Rear Window Defroster Repair

PROCEDURE

1. Restore the continuity of the conductive strips using a special repair kit, Dupont type 4817. The kit consists mainly of a conductive epoxy paste supplied with a hardener.
2. Before repairing the grid, switch off the defroster and allow the element to cool for several minutes.
3. Lightly clean the damaged section of the strip with felt, then thoroughly wipe it with alcohol.
4. Apply two strips of tape along the section of the strip to be repaired.
5. Thoroughly mix the epoxy paste with the hardener (follow the instructions supplied with the kit).

6. Apply the mixture to the damaged section, overlapping approximately 20 mm onto the undamaged strip.

7. The compound fully cures after 24 hours, after which the protective tape strips may be removed from the glass.
