Horn Operation Check and Replacement
INSPECTION
PROCEDURE
Always check the fuse first.
1. Disconnect the wiring from the horns.
2. To check horn operation, apply battery voltage to one of the horn terminals. Ground the other terminal (use jumper wires). If the horn does not sound, replace it.

3. If the horn sounds normally, check for voltage at the horn connector with the horn button pressed. If voltage is present, check the ground connection.
4. If there is no voltage, check the relevant relay (refer to Relays - General Information and Functional Check).
5. If the relay is good, check the power supply to the power relay and the control circuit. If power is missing in either circuit, check the wiring between the relay and the fuse junction block.
6. If voltage is correctly supplied to both circuits, press the horn switch and check the switch for continuity to ground. If there is no continuity, check the circuit for an open. If the circuit is good, replace the horn switch.
7. If the switch has no continuity, check the circuit between the relay and the switch for an open and a short to ground.
REPLACEMENT
PROCEDURE
1. To gain access to the horn, remove the left front wheel arch splash shield (refer to Body section).

2. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the mounting bracket bolts.
3. Installation is the reverse of removal.
