Radio Antenna Removal and Installation

~1min read

PROCEDURE

1. The vehicles covered by this Manual are equipped with a wire-type antenna bonded to the rear window. The signal received by the antenna is amplified by an electromagnetic coil installed under the rear shelf.
2. If there are problems receiving radio signals, check the continuity of the antenna lead-in wiring.

3. Оберните щупы омметра алюминиевой фольгой и прозондируйте ею нити приемной

3. Wrap the ohmmeter probes in aluminum foil and probe the antenna grid wires with it. Hold one probe against one of the antenna terminals and drag the other along the grid wires until the break point is found.

4. If a break is found, repair the grid in the same manner as described in the Section Rear Window Defogger Operational Check and Repair for repairing the rear window defogger conductive grid.

5. Если принимающая решетка в порядке, проверьте состояние электромагнитной катушки

5. If the receiving grille is in good condition, check the condition of the antenna amplifier solenoid coil. Disconnect two wiring harnesses from the amplifier assembly. On the coil side of the 1-pin connector, check for continuity between the single terminal and ground. If continuity is present, replace the coil.

To make disconnecting the connectors easier, release the two cover retaining clips on the underside of the amplifier. Read the ohmmeter only a few seconds after connecting it. At first the meter may show continuity, which may drop to zero after 20 seconds. This test also checks the continuity of the coil.
6. Make sure there is no continuity between the two terminals of the 2-pin connector on the opposite side of the amplifier assembly. If continuity is present, replace the coil (see Note to step 5).

7. Для замены катушки снимите заднюю полку (см. Главу Кузов) и отдайте два крепежных

7. To replace the coil, remove the rear shelf (see Body section) and remove the two retaining screws.
