The main key fits all locks.
The spare key does not fit the trunk lock.
To protect items locked in the trunk when parking, leave the spare key with an attendant.
Always keep a duplicate of the main key with you in case the keys are accidentally locked inside the vehicle when the doors and trunk lid are closed.

The key fits all locks.
Always keep a duplicate key with you in case the main set of keys is accidentally locked inside the vehicle when the doors and trunk lid are closed.

Store the key number plate in a safe place (for example, in your wallet).
Do not keep the key number plate in the vehicle.
If you lose your keys or need a duplicate, a
Toyota dealer can make new keys using the number on the plate.
You may also keep a copy of the key number with your personal documents.
The vehicle comes with two keys.
The main key (black) operates all locks.
A Toyota dealer needs this key to make a new key with a built-in transponder chip.
The spare key (gray) operates all locks except the luggage compartment lid lock.
The transponder chip built into the heads of the main and spare keys activates the lock. Therefore, never lose
your keys.
If you make your own duplicate, you will not be able to trigger the security system or start the engine.

To protect valuables in the luggage compartment when parking the vehicle, leave the spare
key with an attendant.
Always carry a duplicate of the main key in case you accidentally lock the keys inside the vehicle when closing the doors and luggage compartment lid.

* Observe the following precautions when using keys with a built-in transponder chip.

Do not leave the key ring on the key head when starting the engine. Do not turn the key by the ring, and do not press the ring against the key head. Otherwise, the engine may fail to start or may stall after starting.

When starting the engine, keys with built-in transponder chips must not touch each other (or keys from another vehicle). Do not press other keys flat against the key head in the ignition switch. Otherwise, the engine may fail to start or may stall after starting.

Do not bend the key head.

Do not cover the key head with materials that block electromagnetic waves.
Do not subject the key to impacts with other objects.
Do not expose the key to high temperatures for long periods, for example, direct sunlight when the key is left on the instrument panel or on the hood.
Do not let the key come into contact with water or clean it in an ultrasonic cleaner.
Do not use the key together with materials that have strong electromagnetic properties.
