Driver and Passenger Front Airbags
GENERAL
Driver Airbag SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) The SRS airbag is designed to improve driver safety and is a supplemental restraint in addition to the seat belts.

In a severe frontal collision, the airbag inflates, thereby cushioning the impact together with the seat belts and reducing the likelihood of the driver's chest or head striking the steering wheel. In a severe frontal collision, the sensor detects deceleration and triggers
deployment of the airbag inflator. A chemical reaction occurs in the inflator, as a result of which the airbag fills instantly with nitrogen (a non-toxic gas), restraining the driver's forward movement by inertia. Airbag deployment is accompanied by a fairly loud noise and the release of smoke. These processes are harmless and do not indicate a fire. Wash off residues of the substances involved in gas generation as soon as possible, as slight skin irritation may occur.
The airbag inflates within a fraction of a second, so considerable mechanical force is generated during deployment. The system is designed to reduce the likelihood of serious injury; however, the airbag itself may cause minor skin injuries such as burns, blisters and abrasions.
The steering wheel hub may remain hot for several minutes, but the airbag itself will not heat up. The airbag is designed for single use only.

The airbag is triggered by a severe frontal impact within the shaded area bounded by the arrows. The airbag deploys if the impact force exceeds the design threshold, which corresponds to the force of a collision with a fixed, rigid barrier at a vehicle speed of 20 km/h.
This threshold is clearly exceeded in a collision with an object that moves or deforms upon frontal impact (for example, a parked vehicle or a roadside pole), or in an offset impact (an impact in which the front of the vehicle passes under the obstacle and does not take part in the collision, for example under the frame of a truck).

The airbag does not deploy in a rear impact, side impact, or vehicle rollover, or in a low-speed frontal collision.
* The airbag is a supplemental device and works effectively only when the seat belt, which is the primary means of protection in a crash, is used. If the seat belts are not used, the driver's vulnerability in a crash increases sharply. To increase safety, the driver and passengers must fasten their seat belts whenever the vehicle is in motion.
Driver and Passenger Front Airbags
The airbag deploys even if there is no passenger in the front seat.

The warning light with this symbol illuminates when the ignition key is turned to ACC or On and goes out after 6 seconds. This indicates that the airbag system is functioning properly. The airbag warning light indicates the status of the deployment sensor, wiring and power supply.
If the impact force corresponds to the threshold, one of the two airbags provided in the vehicle will deploy.
