Folding the Rear Seat

Release the seatback and tilt it forward. If equipped with head restraints, remove them before folding the seat. Folding the rear seatback increases the cargo space (for loading procedure, see Subsection 1.5.54).
If necessary, the seatbacks can be folded individually.
* When returning the rear seatback to its upright position, make sure the seat belts are not twisted, not pinched by the seatback, and can be used at any time.
* Make sure the seatback is securely latched by rocking it by the top.

For 3-Door and 5-Door Hatchbacks

For Station Wagon

For Station Wagon

Before folding the seatback, remove the rear seat belts.
When folding the seatback, make sure the belt passes through the guide bracket; otherwise the belt may be damaged.
When returning the seatback, make sure the belt is not caught between the seat and the seatback.

* When using the belt, remove the belt from the guide clip.

Grasp the edge of the strap and fold the seat cushion forward. The lower front part of the cushion is hinged, so simply rotate it.

* Make sure the seat belts are not twisted or caught under the seat cushion and are in working order.

Make sure the cushion is securely attached by trying to lift it by the edge near the lifting strap.

Release the seatback lock and fold the seatback down while pushing the seat cushion forward. Before folding down the rear seatback, remove the head restraints (if equipped).

After folding the seatback down, hook the strap buckle onto the protrusion on the back of the seatback.
