Controls and Their Functions

The temperature control sets the temperature of the air entering the cabin. When the lever is in the far left position, the temperature is at its lowest; in the far right position, it is at its highest.
The air intake control lever can be used to select full or partial recirculation with outside air intake.
When the OUTSIDE AIR lever is in position, outside air is supplied to the air conditioning system.
For recirculation, move the lever to the RECIRCULATED AIR position.
The air flow mode control lever selects the outlet through which air enters the cabin.
The fan control lever turns the fan on and off and sets its speed. To turn the fan off, move the lever to the OFF position.
The special button turns the air conditioner on and off. To turn it on, press the button; to turn it off, press the button again. If the button indicator light flashes, contact an automotive service center as soon as possible.
The cause may be belt slippage or a compressor malfunction. In this case, the air conditioner switches off automatically to prevent belt damage.

Heating

PROCEDURE
1. Move the temperature control lever to any position except the far left position. If you need air with low humidity, move the lever to a position between the middle and the far right. If you need warm air blowing at face level, move the lever to a position close to the middle.
2. Move the air intake control lever to the OUTSIDE AIR position. If you need to heat the cabin air quickly, move the lever to the RECIRCULATED AIR position. It is recommended that the air intake control lever always stays in the OUTSIDE AIR position. Otherwise, the windows will fog up quickly.
3. Move the airflow direction control lever to the FLOOR position. If you need warm air blowing at face level, move the lever to the BI LEVEL position.
If the windows fog up quickly, move the lever to the FLOOR/WINDSHIELD position.
4. Move the blower control lever to any position except the far left position.
5. The A/C button must be released. If you need dry warm air, press the button.

Cooling

PROCEDURE
1. Move the temperature control lever to a position between the middle and the far left. If you need warm air at floor level in bi-level mode, move the temperature control lever to a position close to the middle.
2. Move the air intake control lever to the OUTSIDE AIR position. If you need rapid circulation of cooled air, move the lever to the RECIRCULATED AIR position. It is recommended that the air intake control lever
always stays in the OUTSIDE AIR position.
3. Move the airflow direction control lever to the FACE position. If you need warm air at floor level in bi-level mode, move the lever to the BI LEVEL position.
4. Move the blower control lever to any position except the far left position.
5. Press the A/C button.

Ventilation

PROCEDURE
1. Move the temperature control lever to the far left position.
2. Move the air intake control lever to the OUTSIDE AIR position.
3. Move the airflow direction control lever to the FACE position.
4. Move the blower control lever to any position except the far left position.
5. The A/C button must be released.

Windshield Heating and Defrosting

PROCEDURE
To clear fog from the inside of the windshield
1. Move the temperature control lever to any position.
2. Move the air intake control lever to the OUTSIDE AIR position.
3. Move the airflow direction control lever to the WINDSHIELD position.
4. Move the blower control lever to the far left position.
5. Press the A/C button.
To clear ice or fog from the outside of the windshield
6. Move the temperature control lever to the far right position.
7. Move the air intake control lever to the OUTSIDE AIR position.
8. Move the airflow direction control lever to the WINDSHIELD position.
9. Move the blower control lever to the HI position.
10. The A/C button must be released.
Airflow Direction Control Lever Positions
FACE position – airflow directed to face level.
BI LEVEL position – airflow directed to face and foot level simultaneously. Air at foot level is slightly warmer than at face level (except in ventilation mode).
FLOOR position – airflow is directed almost entirely to face and foot level. On some vehicles, air at foot level is slightly warmer than at face level.
FLOOR/WINDSHIELD position – airflow is directed to the windshield, front door glass, face and feet. Less heated airflow is directed to the face.
WINDSHIELD position – airflow is directed to the windshield, front door glass and face. On some vehicles in this lever position, less heated airflow is directed to the face. Do not use the WINDSHIELD position when cooling air in conditions of very high humidity. Otherwise, due to the temperature difference between outside air and the windshield, the outer surface of the glass will fog up.

Heater Controls and Their Functions
The temperature control sets the temperature of the air entering the cabin, and also turns the heater on and off.
In the far left position of the lever, the heater is off; the temperature is highest in the far right position.
The air intake control levers can be used to set full or partial recirculation mode with outside air intake.
When the lever is in the OUTSIDE AIR position, outside air is supplied to the climate control system. For recirculation, move the lever to the RECIRCULATED AIR position.
The airflow direction control lever sets the channel through which air enters the cabin.
Activation, deactivation and airflow speed are set by the blower control lever. To turn the blower off, move the lever to the OFF position.

Heating the Air
PROCEDURE
1. Move the temperature control lever to any position except the extreme left (NO HEAT). To blow warm air at face level, move the lever to a position near the middle.
2. Move the air intake control lever to the OUTSIDE AIR position. For rapid heating of the cabin air, move the lever to the RECIRCULATED AIR position. It is recommended that the air intake control lever always be kept in the OUTSIDE AIR position. Otherwise, the windows will fog up quickly.
3. Move the airflow direction control lever to the FLOOR position.
To blow warm air at face level, move the lever to the BI LEVEL position (up and down). If the windows fog up quickly, move the lever to the FLOOR/WINDSHIELD position (floor and windshield).
4. Move the fan speed control lever to any position except the extreme left.

Ventilation
PROCEDURE
1. Move the temperature control lever to the extreme left position.
2. Move the air intake control lever to the OUTSIDE AIR position.
3. Move the airflow direction control lever to the FACE position.
4. Move the fan speed control lever to the HI position.

Rules for Use While Driving

Make sure the air intake grille is clean.
If the airflow is weak, check the ventilation nozzles on the instrument panel.
When driving on dusty roads, keep the windows closed. If dust continues to enter the vehicle from the vehicle ahead after the windows are closed, move the air intake control lever to the OUTSIDE AIR position and the fan speed control lever to the extreme left position.
When following a vehicle on a dusty road or when driving in dusty or windy conditions, it is recommended to move the air intake control lever to the RECIRCULATED AIR position. This blocks outside air intake and prevents dust from entering the cabin.
