In this manual: Maintenance
~1min read
PROCEDURE
1. The evaporative emission control system is designed to absorb fuel vapors from the fuel tank and fuel system into the activated carbon canister, and then burn the vapors in the engine cylinders.

2. The most common sign of abnormal system operation is a strong smell of gasoline in the engine compartment. If you smell gasoline, inspect the activated charcoal canister located at the front of the engine compartment. Check the condition of the EVAP canister and all hoses (indicated by arrows) for cracks and other damage.
Refer to Subsection 6.6 for a more detailed description of the system.
