Fuel Filter Replacement

PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable (first make sure you know the radio decoding code if the radio is equipped with a theft-deterrent lock).
2. The fuel filter is attached to a bracket on the engine compartment partition on the left side of the vehicle.
3. To access the upper part of the filter, remove all necessary components.

4. Hold the filter from turning with a wrench and unscrew the banjo bolt at the top of the filter.

5. Then unscrew the fitting at the bottom of the filter (using an open-end wrench if possible).
6. Remove both bolts securing the bracket to the engine compartment partition and remove the used filter together with the bracket.
7. Note the filter position and clearly mark the inlet and outlet ports. The filter must be installed with the enlarged end facing down. When installing, orient the new filter so that its position exactly matches the filter being replaced.
8. Replace the sealing washers supplied in the new filter kit, screw in the inlet and outlet fittings, and tighten securely.
9. Installation is then performed in reverse order.
