Differential Oil Level Inspection
VEHICLES WITH 3-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
PROCEDURE
1. A separate opening closed by a plug is provided for filling the differential of 3-speed automatic transmissions; this opening is also used to check the oil level. To access the plug, raise the vehicle and support it on stands. Do not perform work under a vehicle supported only by a jack.

2. Remove the level check plug (1) from the front of the transmission case (2 – drain plug).
3. Insert a finger and check by feel that the oil level is exactly at the lower edge of the check opening. If necessary, add oil using a funnel or a syringe (recommended grade is specified in subsection 2.1). Add oil until it begins to flow out of the lower edge of the check opening.
4. Install and tighten the plug securely.
