1.2/1.4 L engine
On the 1.2/1.4 L engine, a dual ignition coil is bolted to the cylinder head.
Switch off the ignition.

Remove ignition lead cover with Torx T40 screwdriver - arrows -. The upper left screw only needs to be loosened, not removed.

Pull off the multi-pin connector - 1 - by pressing together the wire lock.
Pull off the high-voltage leads - 2 - to the spark plugs.
Mark them before disconnecting so they can be reconnected to the same position. The firing order is 1-3-4-2.
Cylinder 1 of the engine is on the timing belt side.
The spark plug lead connector assignment is also shown in illustration T-1251.
Unscrew the ignition coil - 3 - and remove it.
Screw on the ignition coil.
Connect the high-voltage leads and multi-pin connector as removed.
Install ignition lead cover.
Note: the specified resistance values apply at +23 °C.
Mark and disconnect all connections on the ignition coil, see "Removal".

Check the primary resistance. The primary resistance is checked at the upper connector, which has 3 pin contacts. The middle contact is the negative contact, the outer ones are positive contacts. Connect the test probes of the ohmmeter between the left positive contact and the negative contact (middle contact) - a -. This checks the resistance of the ignition coil for cylinders 2 and 3. Then connect the ohmmeter between the right positive contact and the negative contact (middle contact) - b -. This checks the resistance of the ignition coil for cylinders 1 and 4. Nominal value: 0.45 Ω to 0.55 Ω.
Check the secondary resistance - c - and - d -. To do this, connect the ohmmeter test probes between the high-voltage outputs in each case. Nominal value: 12 kΩ to 14.6 kΩ.
