Replacing the brake light switch
The brake light switch is located in the footwell on the pedal bracket.
If the brake light does not come on, first check the fuse. Then check the bulbs. If the bulbs concerned are not defective, check the brake light switch, see page 241.

Disconnect the connector from the brake light switch -1-.
Turn the brake light switch 60° anticlockwise at the hex with an open-end wrench, 14 mm across flats, and remove it.
Press the brake pedal down by hand and hold it.

Align the new switch -1- with the holder -4- and insert it.
Turn the switch clockwise by about 60° until it contacts the stop. The retaining tooth -5- must engage in the groove -6-.
Return the brake pedal to its rest position (release it).
The switch aligns itself automatically with the socket -2-.
Press the pedal down and remove spacer -3-, which was used as protection during adjustment.
Check the function of the new brake light switch: switch on the ignition. The brake lights must come on with slight application of the brake pedal.
