Brake fluid
When handling brake fluid, note the following:
Brake fluid is toxic. Never siphon brake fluid by mouth through a hose. Only fill brake fluid into containers where accidental ingestion is ruled out.
Brake fluid is corrosive and must therefore not come into contact with the car paint. If it does, wipe off immediately and wash off with plenty of water.
Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air. Therefore store brake fluid only in sealed containers.
Brake fluid that has already been used in the brake system must not be reused.
Also when bleeding the brake system, use only new brake fluid.
Brake fluid specification: DOT 4 (F.M.V.S.S. No.
116) or Fiat Tutela Top 4 (270C).
Brake fluid must not come into contact with mineral oil. Even small traces of mineral oil make the brake fluid unusable or lead to brake system failure. Plugs and boots in the brake system will be damaged if they come into contact with mineral oil-containing products.
Do not use cleaning cloths containing mineral oil for cleaning.
Replace brake fluid every 2 years, preferably after the cold season.
