Lapping in the valve seat
If the valve seat inserts have been machined properly and the valves are new, lapping the valve seats in the cylinder head is not necessarily required.

Valves may only be lapped in with fine-grit lapping compound. For the necessary rotating motion, place a rubber suction cup on the valve head, for example Hazet 795. Grooving on the seating surfaces during lapping can be avoided by frequently lifting the valve and continuing to rotate it evenly during the lapping process.
The lapping result can be checked by the contact pattern and with fuel: insert the valve loosely, pour fuel into the combustion chamber; fuel must not leak out past the valve guide. Otherwise, repeat the lapping process.
