Reworking the valve seat in the cylinder head/valve

~1min read
All engines

Reworking the valve seats in the cylinder head must always be carried out when the valves or valve guides have been reground or the valves have been replaced. Only rework the valve seats as far as necessary to achieve a perfect contact pattern. Valve seat inserts can be replaced with common workshop equipment. Reamers are required for reworking the valve guides, and the valve seat is machined with grinding heads. Since working with these tools requires special experience, the work should be carried out by a workshop. The dimensions for intake and exhaust valves are the same.
