Description and Operation
Description
The accelerator pedal position sensor (APS) is attached to the accelerator pedal module and detects the angle of the accelerator pedal. Since the APS is one of the most important sensors in engine control, it is designed with two sensors, each with separate power and ground lines. The second sensor monitors the first sensor, and its output voltage is approximately half that of the first. If the ratio between sensors 1 and 2 falls outside the permissible range (approximately half), the diagnostic system detects a malfunction.
