GENERAL INFORMATION.

Lip seals used on rotating shafts have increased requirements for the condition of the sealing surface. Such seals are installed on the pinion shaft and the valve shaft. If leaks appear in the steering shaft area, replace the seals after carefully inspecting and cleaning the sealing surface. The shaft should be replaced only if deep

defects are found on the sealing journal. If the shaft journal in contact with the seal lip is

slightly damaged by corrosion, clean it and polish it with fine emery cloth. Replace the shaft only if this operation does not eliminate the fluid leaks.
