Removing and installing the wishbone
Mark the position of the front wheel relative to the wheel hub with paint.
This allows the balanced wheel to be refitted in the same position. Loosen the wheel bolts. The vehicle must be standing on the ground.
Raise the front of the vehicle on a jack and remove the front wheel.

Remove the connecting rod - 1 - from the stabilizer bar and wishbone - 4. To do so, unscrew the two nuts - 2 - and - 3 -.
Remove clamping bolt - 5 - and press the ball joint out of the steering knuckle. If it is stiff, place a mounting lever between the wishbone and the vehicle frame and press out wishbone - 4 -. Caution: wrap the ball joint boot with a rag to protect it from damage during further installation.

Unscrew wishbone - 1 - from the subframe - 2 -. Support the wishbone with a hydraulic jack.
Remove the wishbone toward the steering knuckle.
Align the wishbone on the subframe, support it with a hydraulic jack and tighten hand-tight.

Press the wishbone with pivot pin - 1 - into the steering knuckle - 2 - as far as it will go. Insert bolt - 3 - from the rear; it engages in the groove on the wishbone pivot. Caution: the bolt head must point to the rear, as seen in the direction of travel. Tighten the bolt nut to 70 N·m, while holding the bolt so it does not turn.
4 - Rubber boot.

First tighten the outer fastening bolts - 1 - for the wishbone to the subframe, then the inner fastening bolts - 2 - to 70 N·m.
Tighten the connecting rod to the stabilizer bar with 70 N·m and to the wishbone with 30 N·m.
Position the front wheel so that the marks made during removal line up. Before fitting, lightly grease the centering seat of the rim on the wheel hub and the conical surface of the wheel bolts with wheel bearing grease. Do not grease or oil the threads of the wheel bolts. Fit the wheel bolts.
Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel bolts crosswise to 90 N·m.
Have the wheel alignment adjusted, see also page 167.
