PROCEDURE 1. Assemble the starter in the reverse order of removal, observing the following.

2. If rotor 26 was removed from cover 10, install the drive assembly on the rotor shaft, then insert the rotor with drive into the cover, install protective ring 1 (see illustration Removing the Rotor) onto the rotor shaft, and install snap ring 2 into the shaft groove.

3. Resting ring 1 on the press table and applying press force to the rotor shaft, press ring 1 onto snap ring 2. 4. The rotor shaft end play must be 0.1–0.3 mm. End play is adjusted with shims 6 (see illustration Starter Components). 5. After assembly, it is recommended to apply "D3" sealant to the joints between the starter housing and covers, between the solenoid relay and the starter cover, between the bearing cover and the starter cover, as well as to the head of the through bolts, the solenoid relay mounting bolt heads, and the bearing cover mounting bolt heads.
