Checking the Hall Sensor (Transistorized Ignition System)
PROCEDURE

Checking Voltage at Terminals 3 and 6 of the Control Unit 1 – protective boot; 2 – connector; 3 – control unit
The Hall sensor is checked with the ignition coil and control unit serviceable and the ambient temperature between 0 and +40 °C. PROCEDURE 1. Disconnect the center lead from the distributor and ground it. 2. Pull back rubber boot 1 and connect the voltmeter to terminals 6 and 3, as shown in the illustration. 3. Turn on the ignition and slowly turn the crankshaft while observing the voltmeter. The readings should fluctuate between 0 and 2 V. If the voltmeter readings do not change while the crankshaft rotates, the Hall sensor is faulty and the distributor must be replaced.
