PROCEDURE

Alternator mounting 1 – alternator; 2 – alternator bracket mounting bolt; 3 – adjusting bar mounting bolt; 4 – alternator-to-bar mounting bolt; 5 – adjusting bar; 6 – alternator bracket; 7 – alternator mounting bolt

Removal PROCEDURE 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Unclip the spring clip and remove the electrical connector. 3. Disconnect the ground wire from the alternator, if equipped. Note: The alternator mounting can be of two types: the adjusting bar is at the top, or the adjusting bar is at the bottom. The description is given for the lower adjusting bar position. All operations are similar for the upper position. 4. Loosen upper bolt 7 (see figure Alternator mounting). 5. Remove bolt 4. 6. Pivot alternator 1 toward the engine. 7. Remove the alternator drive belt. 8. Remove bolt 7. 9. Remove alternator 1. Installation Install the alternator in the reverse order of removal. Adjust the alternator drive belt tension (see subsection 12.2.6).
