Disassembly and Assembly of Ignition Distributor (Transistor Ignition System)
PROCEDURE 1. Remove the ignition distributor. 2. Unhook springs 8 (see illustration Transistor Ignition System) and remove distributor cap 25. 3. Remove rotor arm 23. 4. Remove dust shield 22. 5. Mark the position of armature 28 relative to the distributor shaft, remove armature 28 and the locating pin. 6. Disconnect the vacuum advance unit rod from the Hall sensor plate, unscrew the screws and remove vacuum advance unit 9. 7. Unscrew screw 17 and remove Hall sensor 15 with connector socket 16. 8. Unscrew the screws and remove plate 13 with gasket. 9. Clutch cover.
10. Lower clutch housing mounting bolts to the cylinder block.
11. After disassembly, clean all parts of dust and dirt.
12. Inspect distributor cap 25. If it has cracks or burnt contacts, replace the cap. 13. Apply vacuum to vacuum advance unit 9. The advance rod must move. If it does not, the diaphragm is torn and the vacuum advance unit must be replaced. 14. Apply vacuum to the vacuum advance unit and hold it for a while. The rod must move and remain in that position while the vacuum is maintained. If not, the vacuum advance unit is not airtight and must be replaced. 15. Assemble the ignition distributor in the reverse order.
