Replacing the Breaker Points (Conventional Ignition System)

PROCEDURE

During operation the breaker points burn out and must be replaced in the following order: PROCEDURE 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Disconnect the high-tension leads from the distributor cap. 3. Remove shield 21 (see illustration Ignition Distributor), unhook springs 11 and remove cap 1. 4. Remove rotor 3 and dust shield 4. 5. Remove bolts 5 and remove cover 6. 6. Disconnect the breaker point lead. 7. Remove the stationary contact mounting screws 8 and remove contacts 7 and 8. 8. Install new contacts.

9. Install the removed parts in place. 10. Adjust the breaker point dwell angle and the ignition timing advance.
