The tailgate or trunk lid can be opened by pressing the tailgate or trunk lid release lever, then lifting it up by hand. To close the tailgate or trunk lid, lower it, then press it down until it latches. To make sure the tailgate or trunk lid is securely latched, try lifting it again.

While driving, the tailgate or trunk lid must always be fully closed. If it is open or partially open, exhaust gases may enter the passenger compartment.
